Commodore Computer Club members were some of the first people inside the building that would later become the Living Computer Museum in Seattle, WA. Read on.

Back on June 25, 2011 thanks to Keith Perez, primary hardware restoration engineer at the Living Computer Museum and Paul G. Allen (Co-Founder of Microsoft), we were given private unrestricted access into the Living Computer Museum. It was a spectacular time for sure!

Earlier today we received the following in email from the folks at the Living Computer Museum:

The COVID-19 crisis has had a devastating effect on many cultural organizations, especially those that rely on public gatherings and special events to achieve their mission. Given so much uncertainty, we have made the very difficult decision to suspend all operations of Living Computers: Museum + Labs for now.

Since we opened, our philosophy has been simple. To understand computing technology, you need to experience that technology firsthand. The current global situation is making it difficult for us to serve our mission and we will spend the months ahead reassessing if, how, and when to reopen.

In the coming weeks we’ll follow up with information about ticket, membership and donation refunds. If you have any immediate questions, please reach out to info@livingcomputers.org.

Thank you to our members, donors, community and corporate partners and our employees who have made Living Computers: Museum + Labs so special.

This really sucks. The Living Computer Museum is an amazing place and has come a long way in the past 9 years since that first private visit back on June 25, 2011.

Hopefully things get back to normal and the museum can re-open to the public.
